U.S. equities had another good month with the S&P 500 up more than 2%. October's gains were driven by powerful corporate and technological trends, which largely overshadowed mixed economic signals and political uncertainty:
Blockbuster Tech Earnings & AI Momentum: This was the single biggest driver.
Amazon (AMZN) surged over 9% after reporting strong Q3 results, particularly 20% growth in its AWS cloud business.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) had a massive month, with its stock gaining a staggering 58% — its best month since 2001 — fueled by strong demand for its AI and data center chips.
Apple and Meta also released Q4 results, with Meta reporting record revenue despite increased AI investment costs.
The continuous optimism surrounding AI technology and the massive capital expenditure (CapEx) commitments by tech giants (like Meta projecting $\$70-\$72$ billion in 2025 CapEx) signaled confidence in future growth.
